IV Therapy Hybrid Course

We are so glad you are here!  The IV therapy course is offered several times a year to Licensed Practical Nurses desiring education in IV therapy

COURSE OVERVIEW

Pursuant to the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners (LSBPNE), this is a required education for LPNs in the State of Louisiana. The IV therapy course is a noncredit course. The curriculum, approved by the state board, is designed as a hybrid course for Licensed Practical Nurses desiring education in IV therapy. To determine eligibility status for LA licensure, nurses must contact LSBPNE prior to enrolling into the course.The course is mainly online with a face to face check off on campus. It is a self-paced course that begins when the student is registered and must be completed within 8 weeks. The implications for intravenous therapy (IV Therapy) including equipment/devices used, anatomy/ physiology, methods and techniques, infection control measures, safety, complications, and related issues are discussed. The role of the practical nurse related to legal and ethical considerations of intravenous therapy and supervised lab performance are integral parts of this course. Students who are unsuccessful or do not complete the course within the 8 week period will receive a "U".  Students will have a maximum of two attempts to take this course.  This course will require the use of a webcam with Respondus LockDown Browser when taking exams. Learn more about the course exam requirements.

Tuition:
  • $800 Tuition must be paid in full prior to class start date 

*All noncredit course tuition and fees are assessed by each class. Tuition, fees, and other charges relating to noncredit classes are not refundable unless the training course is canceled by the College. If the College cancels a class, then 100% of all College-assessed tuition and fees paid will be refunded for the canceled class.

  2. Be fully or unconditionally accepted to Fletcher Technical Community College by completing all Admissions requirements. Admissions will notify you of your status via email.
  3. Complete and submit the IV Therapy - Workforce Nursing & Allied Health Application.
