Fletcher Technical Community College Tutoring Center Policies

NotepadTutoring Session Preparation

Before attending a tutoring session, a student should . . .
  • Plan in advance for all assignments.
  • Be able to explain to the tutor what work they need help with.
  • Come prepared by bringing handouts, notes, and other relevant material.
  • Read the required text for the subject being tutored in before the appointment.
  • Attempt homework before the appointment.
  • Come with questions prepared for the tutors.

Tutoring Session Expectations
  • Students are responsible for being on time for appointments. Tutors are required to wait 15 minutes before canceling the appointment and marking it as a no-show.
  • Appointment sessions are scheduled in half-hour sessions. Appointments are limited to one per day per subject, but students are welcome as walk-ins beyond their scheduled time. Students may not make multiple appointments with the same tutor in a single day.
  • Students may stay in the center to do homework but must respect the tutors' scheduled appointments and may only ask for help if they are not currently tutoring.
  • Students are expected to comply with the college's policies concerning plagiarism, cheating, and other examples noted in the student handbook.
  • Students are responsible for their grades. The tutoring center does not guarantee or predict future grades.
  • Food is not permitted in tutoring areas.
