Fletcher to Host Bayou Region Continuing Education Symposium for Engineers November 4

(Schriever, LA) – Fletcher Technical Community College will host the Bayou Region Continuing Education Symposium for Engineers, presented by T. Baker Smith, on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Workforce and Nursing Building, located at 1407 Highway 311 in Schriever.

The symposium offers engineers the opportunity to earn up to seven Professional Development Hours (PDHs), including one hour of ethics.

Featured speakers include:

  • Archie Chaisson, executive director of the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction.
  • Dwayne Bourgeois, executive director of the North Lafourche Levee District.
  • Cyndi Glascock, wastewater business development professional at Gainey’s Concrete.
  • Jenifer Schaye, general counsel for the Louisiana Legislative Auditor.
  • Paul Vaught, P.E., assistant secretary for project delivery at the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
  • Gordy Dove, chairman of the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.


Topics discussed will include the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction’s first-year successes and challenges; National Flood Insurance Program and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers policy updates; concrete solutions for wastewater treatment, including precast concrete package plants, case studies and treatment approaches; and requirements of Louisiana’s Public Bid Law.

T. Baker Smith serves as the presenting sponsor, with Sealevel Construction serving as the lunch sponsor and Rouses as the break sponsor. The Louisiana Engineering Society’s Bayou Chapter will sponsor the symposium’s ethics speaker.
