(Schriever, LA) – Fletcher Technical Community College celebrated the accomplishments of its latest cohort of Certified Line Worker Program graduates during a completion ceremony held Thursday, August 13, 2026, on Fletcher’s Schriever campus.
A total of 11 students successfully completed the 22-week program, which provides the training and credentials needed to pursue entry-level careers in the electric utility industry. The comprehensive program includes hands-on line worker training, NCCER certification, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training and job placement assistance. Graduates leave the program prepared to pursue positions as line helpers and apprentices with electric utility companies and contractors.
“Fletcher’s Certified Line Worker Program is a strong example of what workforce education should accomplish. We are preparing people for careers that provide opportunities for their families while also developing the skilled workforce our communities and industry partners depend on,” said Dr. Kristine Strickland, Chancellor of Fletcher Technical Community College. “In South Louisiana, we understand just how essential these professionals are, particularly when severe weather impacts our communities. We are proud to prepare graduates who are ready to step into this critical industry and serve communities across our state and beyond.”
Terry Thompson, Operations Coordinator for Entergy, addressed graduates during the ceremony, encouraging them as they prepare to begin their careers in the utility industry.
Fletcher’s Certified Line Worker Program helps address a critical workforce need in Louisiana and throughout the Gulf South, where trained utility professionals play an essential role in maintaining electrical infrastructure and restoring power following hurricanes and other severe weather events.
The next Certified Line Worker cohort will begin in October 2026, and applications are currently open. Individuals interested in the program are encouraged to apply early, as space is limited.
The class graduates include Grant Adams, Brock Cangelosi, Jahari Carter, Reece Constant, Brooks Daigle, Jesus Galicia, Ma’Khi Gautreaux, Brennan Reilman, Kellen Savoie, Jack Wagner and Maddax Welch.
