FORKLIFT Operator

DESCRIPTION:

The Forklift Operator Training is a 4-hour course designed for the beginner forklift operator. The course will prepare candidates for a position with forklift operations. This will include a combination of classroom and hands-on forklifting training on key safety and operational practices.

Topics of instruction include:

  • Operation of a forklift in a constantly changing environment
  • Avoiding hazards on a jobsite
  • Understanding combined center of gravity and the stability triangle
  • Performing pre-operational inspections
  • Reading load charts
  • Keeping the forklift and the load stable
  • Placing a load

Upon completion, candidates will have the knowledge of key safety and operational practices following training requirements of OSHA’s 29 CFR Section 1926.602(d) and 1910.178(l).  A nationally recognized OSHA Forklift Certification will be issued by Fletcher. The cost of the course is $150 and students must be 18 or older to enroll. 

This is a non-credit course. This is not a financial aid (FAFSA) eligible course. Students must pay tuition upon registration unless notified otherwise.

*All noncredit course tuition and fees are assessed by each class. Tuition, fees, and other charges relating to noncredit classes are not refundable unless the training course is canceled by the College. If the College cancels a class, then 100% of all College-assessed tuition and fees paid will be refunded for the canceled class.
