We are committed to establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with all college staff. We will provide services that support the college by promoting the concept that our employees are our most valuable resource and will be treated as such. Each person is a vital part of the college, and each person will be treated with equal respect.
We will provide a full range of centralized, comprehensive human resources management services for the staff of the college and to assist the college in attracting and retaining qualified employees.
We will advise, not direct; we will serve, not regulate; we will look for ways to say “yes.” Human Resources’ role is to help administration determine appropriate and permissible courses of action to achieve operational outcomes. We must share our knowledge and judgment, we must maintain appropriate internal audit and accountability mechanisms and satisfy college, Louisiana Community Technical College System and Civil Service requirements, but do so in the least intrusive manner possible.
We are committed to working strategically with the college’s administration and staff in identifying and responding to its changing needs. The HR staff will explore all reasonable avenues to accommodate college needs in a manner that is open to new circumstances and that seeks continuous improvement of administrative processes. We must be prepared to recognize that sometimes existing policies or regulations simply did not envision current operational requirements when they were written and that the policies or regulations, themselves, need to be updated, modified, or revised to accommodate an evolving workplace.
We are a resource for the college that impacts and promotes equity and fair human relations throughout the organization. We are a customer-service organization responsive to the changing needs and expectations of the community it serves.
