The Associate of Applied Science degree in Care & Development of Young Children is designed to prepare students for the workforce in occupations related to the direct care, education, curriculum development, and/or administration of programs for young children.  Graduates will be prepared and eligible to open their own licensed childcare centers, serve as childcare providers and directors of licensed centers, or work in quality childcare programs such as Head Start and Early Start.

The Associate of Science in Criminal Justice prepares individuals to pursue career opportunities in law enforcement.  The program focuses on the interrelationship between crime, the criminal justice system, and society.  Students will study the components and processes of the American Justice system including criminology and human behavior.  The program also provides a course of study for students intending to transfer to a four-year college or university as criminal justice majors.

The Louisiana Transfer, Associate of Science or Arts Degree is designed specifically for students who want to complete their freshman and sophomore years at Fletcher before transferring to a four-year college or university to finish a bachelor’s degree.  The program includes a core of general education courses that is required in all baccalaureate degree programs at Louisiana’s public colleges.  Students in the program complete basic requirements in English, mathematics, natural sciences, art, humanities, and social science.  Speak to an advisor to make an academic plan to transfer to other institutions.

The Medical Coding/Insurance Billing Specialist program of study provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare them for diagnostic and procedural coding positions in hospitals, physician’s offices and clinics, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, home care agencies, managed care organizations and outpatient surgical hospitals.  The program will also prepare students for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Exam and at the national level through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC).

On-Demand Courses

Fletcher Technical Community College, in partnership with ed2go, offers affordable and convenient short courses online designed to help you build personal and professional skills.  Our instructor-led courses start monthly and allow you to study and interact with a cohort over a six-week schedule.  For the independent learner, our self-paced, courses provide access to all lessons immediately with up to three months to complete.  Topics include accounting, computer applications, writing, and more.  You can view all Online Career Training and Certificate Programs here.
