ELECTRICIAN DEGREE PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Electrician Program provides basic to advanced specialized instruction and practical shop experience to prepare students for employment within the various electrical trades. The program consists of technical courses designed to develop skills in installation, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment, fixtures, and wiring. The program emphasizes safe and efficient work practices by including a study of all applicable electrical codes, standards, blueprint/wiring diagram interpretation, electrical theory, and various installation/construction processes appropriate to each area of expertise.
Due to the nature of the program, prospective students should be in good physical health, able to lift 75-100 pounds, able to distinguish colors, able to work from ladders, and able to do a variety of multiple tasks.

Students who successfully complete an Electrician program will be able to:
- Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of electrical safety, calculations, DC and AC electrical circuitry, resistance, current, voltage, wattage, tools, test equipment, devices, raceways, motors, transformers, and the National Electrical Code.
- Analyze and apply direct current theory, alternating current, single-phase theory, and alternating current polyphase theory.
- Use computer technology and electronic resources to access information related to continued study and current state-of-the-art knowledge of the electrical industry.
- Demonstrate modern techniques and skills to design, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems according to all current codes and standards.
- Understand and demonstrate professionalism in the field of electrical design, installation, maintenance, and repair

NON-DEGREE, SHORT-TERM TRAINING OPTIONS
NCCER CORE/ELECTRICAL LEVEL I – NIGHT CLASS
Electricians install electrical systems in structures; install wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures; and follow blueprints, the National Electrical Code®, and state and local codes.
Every NCCER Level 1 craft course begins with NCCER’s CORE curriculum which is a prerequisite to all other craft courses. The modules covered in CORE include topics such as basic safety, construction math, hand tools, power tools, blueprint reading, basic rigging, basic communication skills and basic employability skills. Completing the CORE curriculum gives the trainee the basic skills needed to continue education in any craft area. Participants will receive an NCCER transcript, certificate and an initial wallet card upon completion of CORE and any other full level of a craft. The participant will also be entered into NCCER’s online Automated National Registry (ANR). These industry credentials allow participants to provide easy verification of training for current or potential employers. NCCER Electrical Level 1 course include topics such as electrical safety; electrical circuits; device boxes; hand bending; conductors and cables; basic electrical drawings; and introduction to the National Electrical Code®.
Due to the accelerated 12-week format, participants must complete mandatory assignments outside of the scheduled classroom time. You must have a computer with Internet access to complete these mandatory assignments. To enroll, students must complete an admissions application and select "Construction Trades" as their major. After submitting the application, email technicaleducation@fletcher.edu for next steps. The cost of this course is $1,000.
*This is not a financial aid (FAFSA) eligible course. Students must pay tuition upon registration unless notified otherwise. All non-credit course tuition and fees are assessed by each class. Tuition, fees, and other charges relating to non-credit classes are not refundable unless the training course is canceled by the College. If the College cancels a class, then 100% of all College-assessed tuition and fees paid will be refunded for the canceled class.
