Residential Air Conditioning
Program Overview

The Residential Air Conditioning Technology program prepares students to maintain the operating condition of residential heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.  Heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems consist of many mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.  Students learn how to diagnose and correct problems throughout the systems using specialized tools and testing equipment.

Salary & Career Outlook

Upon completion of this program, students are qualified for employment in a variety of jobs in the field of residential heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration.  The program also provides supplemental training for persons currently employed in the respective fields.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in May 2008, the median hourly wage and salary earnings of a heating, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic and installer ranged from $12.19 an hour to $30.59 an hour.
