Graduation

A student graduating in a summer or fall semester should complete and submit a Graduation Application to Student Services by the May 1 priority deadline.  A student graduating in a spring semester should complete and submit a graduation application to Student Services by the December 1 priority deadline.  If the student does not plan to participate in the graduation ceremony but wishes to recieve a certificate diploma, or degree, he/she is required to complete the application and pay the $40 application fee.  A student graduating from his/her declared major is to complete the graduation application through LoLA.  If a student wishes to receive an award in a program area other than the declared major, the student may obtain a paper application from his/her advisor, or he/she may obtain a paper application by clicking here: Graduation Application Link.

Candidates for an associate degree, diploma, or certificate of technical studies must fulfill the general requirements of the curriculum/program in which he/she is enrolled. Candidates must complete these requirements with an overall grade point average of 2.0 or above on all work completed at Fletcher and all work accepted as credit toward the fulfillment of the curriculum/program. Candidates for an Associate of General Studies must complete the concentration area with a 2.5 grade point average.  Candidates must complete all graduation requirements as stated in the College catalog available to students on the College's website.  Candidates who are completing the highest exit level available in the program from which they are graduating must complete an exit exam to be eligible for graduation.  Graduating students must be free of debt to the college.  Graduating students must be approved by the faculty advisor and the registrar.

GRADUATION CEREMONY INFORMATION
A graduation ceremony is held once a year in May. Students are notified of the graduation ceremony by mail. It is the student's responsibility to ensure that Student Services has a correct mailing address.
Graduating students who wish to participate in the ceremony will need to purchase a cap and gown from the College's bookstore.

 

FAQ's

What is the dress code for graduates?

  • Dark-colored dress shoes are to be worn as the cap and gown will be blue.
  • Flip-flop type shoes are not allowed.
  • Backless shoes are not recommended as you will be walking up steps to receive your award.
  • For gentlemen, it is recommended that clothing worn under the gown consist of dress shirt, tie, and dark colored dress pants.
  • For ladies, it is recommended that clothing worn under the gown consist of dark colored dresses or dark colored pantsuits.
  • Earrings should be modest in length; necklaces, chains, pendants, etc. should be worn under the gown.
  • Jeans or Capri pants (which are longer in length than the gown) are not allowed.

NOTE: Students whose dress is deemed inappropriate will be unable to participate in the ceremony.

Is there a practice before the ceremony?

  • There is a mandatory meeting for graduates the week before the ceremony. Students will receive a letter with the exact date, time, and location.
