Baton Rouge, La — Today, during their monthly meeting, the Louisiana Community and Technical College System Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the appointment of Earl Meador as interim chancellor of Fletcher Technical Community College. System President Monty Sullivan made the recommendation.
Meador, who currently serves as Director of South Central Louisiana Technical College, will assume the responsibilities of Interim Chancellor of Fletcher Community College immediately, filling the vacancy created by longtime Fletcher Chancellor Travis Lavigne who announced his retirement last month. During this period, Meador will also continue his role as Director of South Central Louisiana Technical College.
"Earl Meador is also a proven leader who understands the needs of the region," said Sullivan. "He is respected in South Louisiana and is passionate about academic and workforce training. I look forward to working with him in this dual role."
“I am honored and humbled by Dr. Sullivan’s nomination and the board’s approval,” said Meador. “I understand the role that Fletcher has in the community and the great responsibility that comes with continuing the great work that has been started by Chancellor Lavigne. My commitment is to work with the students, community, industry, and the faculty and staff at both institutions to continue building and investing in the diversity of our communities by finding innovative ways to serve the region from the river to the gulf through education and workforce training.”
Meador was named Director of South Central Louisiana Technical College in November, 2012 and oversees its three campuses in South Central Louisiana with two extension campuses in Morgan City and Cut Off.
