The Fletcher Foundation announced today that a $250,000 donation was received from BP America in support of the 60th Anniversary Campaign to benefit Fletcher Technical Community College (Fletcher). With this donation, BP becomes the largest private donor to Fletcher in its history totaling $1.075 million.
In January 2010, the BP Foundation pledged $825,000 to Fletcher Technical Community College over three years for scholarships, curriculum enrichment, and equipment for the technical programs that provide training for jobs in the oil and gas industry.
BP was instrumental in the establishment of Fletcher's Integrated Production Technologies Advisory Board in 2007 and, the development of the curriculum for the new program, which began last year. In 2010, the BP Scholarship Program awarded $50,000 in general scholarships and $25,000 in Veteran stipends for students in the IPT program.
The Fletcher Foundation's 60th Anniversary Campaign goal is to raise $600,000 to assist Fletcher Technical Community College in equipping new and existing programs; providing scholarships and grant opportunities to students; expanding dual enrollment programs to high school students; and to furnish the new campuses.
