Fletcher Technical Community College's faculty and staff raised $20,254 in cash and pledges to benefit the Fletcher Foundation. The goal of the fundraiser, called "The $6K Race", was to raise $6,000 to benefit Fletcher Technical Community College Foundation's ("Fletcher Foundation") 60th Anniversary Share Your Success Campaign.
Faculty and staff members were randomly assigned to four teams (Red, Blue, Green and Purple). Each team had a team captain who was responsible for motivating their respective team members to raise the money through employee contributions, bake sales, raffles, and other unique fundraisers such as the Red Dress contest and Pie in the Face. The winning team for this year's event was the Red Bulls.
"The 6K Race far exceeded the goal thanks to the generosity of the College's faculty and staff members," said Chancellor Travis Lavigne. "Despite budget cuts and no annual increases in the last three years, our faculty and staff demonstrated their commitment to Fletcher with their generous donations and we thank them for not only their donation but their spirit and participation."
