Fletcher Chancellor Lavigne Honored
Chancellor Travis Lavigne

Fletcher Technical Community College Chancellor F. Travis Lavigne, Jr. was chosen by The Courier as Terrebonne's Most Useful Citizen for 2009.

At the 81st annual banquet for the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce, held on January 26, 2010, the secret award was presented to Chancellor Lavigne by Miles Forrest, publisher of the Houma Courier. Mr. Forrest described Chancellor Lavigne as "a person whose life has been dedicated to the youth of our region and one who is at the forefront of implementing meaningful educational opportunities for our students."

"I want to thank the Chamber for this incredible honor," said a surprised Lavigne. The Chancellor acknowledged his wife, Kaye, and his daughters for their continued support throughout the years.

Travis Lavigne was appointed Chancellor of Fletcher Technical Community College in 2003. His community college experience spans more than 38 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Zoology. He was past president of the Terrebonne Parish School and is currently the Board Chairman of the Louisiana Student Financial Assistance Commission. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce, past president and currently a member of the Houma Rotary Club.  Travis is married to Kathleen McCahill and they have two daughters, Dr. Lara Lyn Ross and Dr. Amanda Talbot, and four grandchildren, Lillian and Eve Talbot and Travis Paul and James Lee Ross.
