Fletcher Technical Community College (Fletcher) announced that ConocoPhillips donated $11,000 to the college for the purchase of equipment for the welding program.

Fletcher Technical Community College has prepared welders and pipe fitters for the community workforce for over 40 years. Upon completion of the 45-credit program, the student will earn a technical diploma in welding and is prepared to take the AWS (American Welding Society) entry-level test.

The Welding department wishes to acquire a PlasmaCAM system for use in its program to allow students to utilize technology for their training and to increase their marketability with these very special skill set. The instructor proposes developing a 10-hour course of instruction for senior students offered each semester. This course will provide students with the skills to design a project using the PlasmaCAM software and to translate that design into the cutting of the project to the specifications of the design.
